Have you noticed yet that I love to read?...and that as much as I love to read, I also love to snack?? If I could just sit on the couch, read, eat, and sleep without it being absolutely detrimental to my health and overall well-being, I would do just that all summer. So when I came across this slightly dated NY Times article with the above illustration about favorite snacks of great writers, it immediately caught my attention. A lot of the snacks paired with their respective authors are actually kind of similar to their own style of writing and vice versa! It's funny that Kafka's favorite snack would be a plain, simple glass of milk while his writings are so incredibly detailed and self-loathing....like Metamorphosis.
On another note, I've finished a few more books...!!
1. If you like Italy, Hollywood, movie stars, and plots with multiple characters and that take place in multiple time periods--- read Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter
2. If you like philosophical, non-fiction books that challenge you, and make you go, "hmmmm"...a lot, read The Art of Travel by Alain de Botton
3. If you like quirky, non conventional writing, crazy architects...and judge books by their cover (this cover wins in design aesthetics), and happen to wish you could sometimes disappear, read Where'd You Go, Bernadette? by Marie Semple
Best news of all? I found out that Robert Galbraith's (aka J.K Rowlings) new book called The Silkworm just came out this week and immediately ordered it on rush 2 day shipping! It's somewhat of a sequel to The Cuckoo's Calling and follows Comoran Strike, the same detective!
Happy reading!
